Cookie Policy

Last updated: 9 October 2026

Piston & Polish is an independent car-care guide. We don’t sell anything and we don’t endorse brands, and we try to keep our use of cookies just as simple. This page explains what cookies are, which ones this website uses, why we use them and how you can control them.

This policy should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains more generally how we handle any personal information.

Who we are

This website is operated by [Complete: legal name of site owner or business], [Complete: registered or postal address]. If you have any questions about this policy or about cookies on this site, you can contact us at our contact page or hello@voxevanloi.net.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website saves on your computer, phone or tablet when you visit. They let the site remember things about your visit, such as whether you have already answered the cookie banner, or help the site owner understand how pages are being used.

Some cookies are set by the website you are visiting (first-party cookies). Others are set by a different organisation whose content or service appears on the page, such as an embedded video (third-party cookies).

Cookies also differ in how long they last:

  • Session cookies are deleted automatically when you close your browser.
  • Persistent cookies stay on your device for a set period, or until you delete them.

In this policy, “cookies” also covers similar technologies that store or read information on your device, such as local storage and tracking pixels.

Your consent

We only use strictly necessary cookies without asking first, because the site cannot work properly without them. For every other type of cookie, including analytics and third-party embeds, we ask for your consent through our cookie banner before any of them are set.

You are free to say no. Refusing non-essential cookies will not stop you reading any of our guides. Embedded content, such as videos, may be replaced with a placeholder until you choose to load it.

You can change your mind at any time (see How to manage or refuse cookies below).

The cookies we use

1. Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies are essential for the website to function and to keep it secure. They remember your cookie choices, help protect the site from abuse and keep pages loading correctly. They do not track you across other websites and are not used for advertising. Because they are essential, they cannot be switched off through the cookie banner, although you can block them in your browser (some parts of the site may then not work as expected).

2. Analytics cookies (only with your consent)

Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors use the site: which guides are popular, how people find us and where pages could be clearer. We use this information to improve our content, for example deciding whether a tyre-care guide needs more detail. Wherever possible, we configure analytics to minimise the data collected, for example by shortening or masking IP addresses.

We use [Complete: name of analytics provider, or state “no analytics tools” if none are used]. These cookies are only set if you accept them.

3. Third-party embed cookies (only with your consent)

Some guides include content hosted by other services, such as instructional videos, maps or social media posts. When this content loads, the provider may set its own cookies, which can be used to count views, remember your preferences or, in some cases, recognise you across other websites.

We do not control these cookies. Their use is governed by the provider’s own cookie and privacy policies. To protect your privacy, embedded content is held back until you consent, either through the cookie banner or by choosing to load an individual item.

Embedded content currently used on this site comes from: [Complete: list of embed providers, e.g. video or map services, or state “none”].

How to manage or refuse cookies

Using our cookie banner

When you first visit the site, our cookie banner lets you:

  • Accept all non-essential cookies;
  • Reject all non-essential cookies; or
  • Choose your settings, switching individual categories on or off.

Rejecting is as easy as accepting, and nothing non-essential is set until you make a choice. You can reopen your cookie settings at any time using the [Complete: name and location of the link or button, e.g. “Cookie settings” link in the site footer]. If you withdraw consent, we will stop setting those cookies from then on. You may also wish to delete any that have already been stored, as described below.

Using your browser settings

Most web browsers let you view, delete and block cookies. You can usually find these options in your browser’s settings or preferences, under headings such as “Privacy”, “Security” or “Cookies and site data”. Common options include:

  • deleting all cookies, or only those from a particular website;
  • blocking third-party cookies;
  • blocking all cookies (this may stop some websites, including parts of this one, working properly);
  • clearing cookies automatically when you close the browser;
  • browsing in a private or incognito window, which normally removes cookies at the end of the session.

If you use more than one browser or device, you will need to adjust the settings on each one. Your browser’s built-in help pages will give step-by-step instructions for your version.

Opting out of analytics

As well as refusing analytics cookies through our banner, some analytics providers offer their own opt-out tools or browser add-ons. [Complete: details of any provider-specific opt-out, or remove this paragraph if not applicable.]

Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time, for example if we add or remove a tool or a provider changes its cookies. When we make a significant change, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where required, ask for your consent again.
